I am running a 8hr Ultra marathon August 10th for the 5th time. 1st time as a whole foods plant based eater. What foods should I consume the week before? Also, do you have recommendations for during the run?
Can you explain how to gain weight using healthy whole plant foods! Especially for young children and athletes.
How long do you have to be out in the sun to get enough vitamin D to absorb calcium from plants you eat?
Can you recommend some quick and healthy breakfast ideas that don't involve grains? Thanks!

I recently read an article about Vitamin K, especially vitamin K2. Vitamin K1 is found in leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables but, apparently, k2 is found only in animal products including eggs and cheese. K2 deficiency is said to lead to arterial calcification. Is this true? Don't humans make k2 from the vitamin k in greens and veggies? Please let me know. Thanks!
What are your thoughts on having oil in the diet? There are debates over it. Some experts say yes while others say no. My body does well with virgin organic coconut butter, evoo.
Better B Butter, Baby Butter!
Rose I'm Vegan I don't eat animal derivatives.
My vitamin D levels remain low even after taking a large dosage of prescription D2 for a while and then 2,800 IU of D2 per day for many months. I also spend at least 10 minutes per day in the sun. I read on another' site that taking D supplements with meals may help with absorption so I'm going to give that a try. What else can you suggest? Thanks!
Thoughts on organic soy? From what I've read, there are alot of negative myths regarding organic soy products.
What about the fact that soy is considered a goitrogen for those who have a hypothyroid condition ? Asians may have eaten soy for centuries, but they have also eaten a high iodine diet in their seafood, so that compensates for the goitrogenic effect of soy.
My dermatologist says that taking vegan Omega 3 supplements which come from algae and flax sources is useless because the body can't absorb them. He swears by fish oils and also says that The China Study and similar studies are wrong about dairy. What can I say to him?
